The objective of this exercise in abstraction and composition was to create a school sports court in a peripheral, anodyne urban environment.
The word SALESIANOS was converted into barcode IIIIIIII, producing three types of slats to create a discontinuous enclosure. Each slat was folded, microperforated, protected and lacquered in a bright green that rivals the anodyne colours of the surrounding residential setting.
All construction elements were completely prefabricated (concrete pillars, laminated wood beams, die-cut slats), allowing the sports court to be built during the three months of the school summer holiday.
This recognised, published work has maintained its status as a distinguished building over the years.
